Suggest Treatment For Chronic Knee Pain

Hi, I am currently a senior playing volleyball. I have had knee pain since 5th grade. But monday of this week we started a team camp until thursday. I have had knee pain in the back. I cannot fully extend or completely bend my knee. I went for an approach and it felt like I either popped or over stretched the muscle/tendon or ligament coming from half of my calf to interior side of my knee.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A severe knee pain with swelling of the leg can be due to arthritis, bursitis or DVT. Proper diagnosis needs a direct examination and few investigations like X-ray and color Doppler of the leg. Till then mild pain killers, rest hot compress, application of local analgesic gel and a knee brace can help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
