Suggest Treatment For Chronic Ear Infection

Does the ear canal connect to the the eyes in anyway? I have a 3 yr old that had tubes put in her ears last year due to cronic ear infections. Now she has an ear infection again and we are using priscription ear drops. Whenever I put the drops into her ears she complains of her eye hurting on the same side.

For pain in ear, symptom wise approach is necesary:

1. Examination with ENT Surgeon of external ear canal with a good torch for wax, white flakes, or boil.
2. Palpate mastoid process for tenderness.
3. Inspect Tonsils,Throat & Teeth for referred pain
4. If wax, then wax ear drops are given, if furuncle then antibiotic course with anti inflammatory and analgesic drug.
5. If in painful ear, external ear is normal, put drops in nose.
6. If external ear is normal, ear pain could be due to middle ear infection, esp. otitis media and small hole might suggest perforation of tympanic membrane.
