Hello, I have had this horrible cough for about 2 week. I seen an army doctor about it. He said it was An upper resiratory infection. He also used the words nasal drip. I am in the army. I have never smoked. 21 years old. In -10 Degree to -40 Degrees F. When I lay down the cough is so horrible that I can not fall asleep without taking Nyquil. What can I do to get rid of this?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. In my opinion, you should definitely rule out bronchitis. Bronchitis is inflammation of airways and it is common after viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only. You will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
