Hi, my close friend(female) just being diagnosed with chocolate cyst. and the doctor asked her to get pregnant, as it can cure it(as they said). So I am just wondering is it true? or it just will put asleep cyst for a while, but then still surgical removal will be needed. Thank you so much in advance!!! best regards Fareed ( YYYY@YYYY )

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

The chocolate cyst of ovary is due to endometrial cyst of ovary. It can cause difficulty in conception and ovulation.

It is best to get the cyst removed laparoscopically with minimal damage to the ovarian tissue rather than getting pregnant.

As you get pregnant the endometriosis would be taken care naturally by the factors during pregnancy. So pregnancy is the target for you if you have endometriosis findings on ultrasound.

Hope this will help you.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.
