Suggest Treatment For Chills, Nausea And Shortness Of Breath

Concern: My 74 yr old mother, is having nausea issues, shortness of breath, chills. My daughter and I both had symptoms of a stomach bug within the last few days. But I am still concern because she is diabetic and her test strip was 363 (she refused her pill) she is on Jentadueto. I was concern with her heart, tried a nitro tablet under her tongue. She also has Alzheimer s/dementia.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have chills, nausea and shortness of breath . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like infection in the spine , disk disease , pinched nerve in the back , muscle spasm , kidney infection and pancreatitis . Viral infection can also cause such symptoms . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to pinched nerve or disc disease . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy . Doctor may also refer you to pulmonologist in case the problem seems to be due to lung infection . For now apply hot compresses to back and take proper rest . Taking steam will also be helpful.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
