Suggest Treatment For Child Passing Stools In Bits And Pieces
sir, my 18 months old daughter is passing stools in bits and pieces. Her routine stool & urine tests are ok.Stool is not hard, abit sticky & soft. Doctor was earlier suspecting urine infection/ameobisis which does not appear in test results. Doctor has anyway prescribed Oflaxin for 5 days. Daughter is otherwise playful but passing stools 8-10 times per day in pieces & looks like applying some effort.please advice.
Bowel habits vary widely among children. Frequent stools are also normal in this age group, as well as one motion in 2-3 days. There are only few bowel types which indicates a disease state, needing evaluation and management: 1. Abnormally tight stool with pain on passing 2. Too watery, as in diarrhea 3. Blood / excess mucus in stool 4. Pale coloured or black tarry stool 5. Stool that is too oily and floating in closet
If the above features are not there, just take it as his normal excrement. The consistency can change over time.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
