Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion And Cold In Infant

Hi, my son is 6 months 1 week old and is very congested. He seems to have difficulty breathing, especially at night and the mucus in his nostrils is now thick & yellow. Would it be ok to give him histal dc? If yes, how much and how often? If no, please recommend. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..
Steam inhalation works better for congestion..
If the baby not cooperative you can put a cloth wet with hot water over the chest..
You can use normal saline nasal drops for congestion..
You can use histal but it doesn't help much to relieve congestion.. Dose is upto 1ml twice daily(0.5 mg)
If required use an antibiotic with pediatrician's advice..
Hope this information helps you..Will be available for further queries.
Take care..
