Suggest Treatment For Chapped Lips

Hi, I play the French horn and recently I have been having difficulty due to the inside of mouth being chapped on my top and bottom lips. I drink water but it doesn't seem to go away at all. Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it looks like dryness of mouth is the cause of dryness of the inside of lips leading to difficulty in playing french horn..
It can occur due to causes like:
-Severe dehydration,
-Side effects of medications if you take any.
-Salivary gland dysfunction.
-Nerve damage supplying salivary glands.
-Oral infections like thrush..
-Sjogren's Syndrome..etc..

-For dry mouth chew sugarfree chewing gums..
-Drink plenty of water.
-Avoid regular mouthwash and use specialised mouthwash that are formulated for dry mouth patients like Biotene..
-You can also instil artificial saliva drops..
-Suck tart candies as it also stimulates saliva flow..

If does not improve consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
