General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Early morning stiffness is the common presentation of rheumatoid arthritis. Also, it causes skin discoloration and itchy rashes due to inflammatory changes. My advice is:
- If stiffness and pain is present, avoid work
- Do regular exercises and rest
- Have a diet plan of low lipid and high fibre diet
- Physiotherapy
- Tests like CBC, renal and liver function tests, RA factor, CRP and ESR before starting drugs (as you have not mentioned about the medication you are taking)
- Anti-rheumatic drugs should be started within 6 weeks to 3 months of diagnosis
- Analgesics like ibuprofen for symptomatic relief
- if skin has itchy rashes then take topical steroids or antibiotics and antihistamines

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
