Most of the causes of cerebral palsy do not have specific, curative treatments. The goal of treatment is to help the person be as independent as possible.
The specific types of devices and equipments used depend on a child's needs, such as braces, casts, and splints to maintain or improve joint mobility, help strengthen muscles and relax overactive (spastic) muscles, assist with daily activities. It may include special crutches, orthotics, standers, special seats, walkers, wheelchairs, special shoes, and other methods to help with specific problems. If both legs are affected, a child can learn to move around with the support of a scooter board,(a device used to self-propel while lying down),modified stroller, wheelchair,or other special equipment.
Treatment is based on the person's symptoms and the need to prevent complications

Self and home care include:
>Getting enough food and nutrition.
>Performing exercises recommended by the physiotherapist.
>Learn about pain management.
>Protecting the joints from injury.
Different rehabilitative measures & physiotherapy might be required depending on the situation.

Treatment requires a team approach, including:
*Primary care doctor
*Dentist (dental check-ups are recommended around every 6 months)
*Occupational, physical, and speech therapists
*Other specialists, including a neurologist, rehabilitation physician.
1.The physical therapist evaluates muscle tone, strength, and walking.
2.The occupational therapist reviews the child's ability to perform tasks of self-help and care from feeding to manual dexterity.
3.The speech therapist evaluates the child's ability to speak and understand speech.
Medications may include:
*Anticonvulsants to prevent or reduce the frequency of seizures.
*Botulinum toxin to help with spasticity and drooling.
*Muscle relaxants to reduce tremors and spasticity.

HOPE IT CAN HELP YOU.
