Suggest Treatment For Cellulitis

My husband just completed antibiotics for cellulitis occurring from an insect bite abcess on his hip. He has had cellulitis before from a bad burn on his lower leg. He is 2 days post antibiotics and it looks much better but the skin is still congested (large, hard lump near the healing abcess). Is this normal? If so, how long might it take to resolve? Thank you.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The large hard lump is a normal response to infection or trauma to any area of the body.
It is scar tissue which forms during the healing process.

It can take weeks to months for the scar tissue itself to resolve but it does not indicate that the infection is still present or recurring.

I hope this helps
