Suggest Treatment For Cavity Formation In Kidney

I've had a kidney abcess in november. It was drained but now apparently I have a cavity in my kidney and there is a connection between the cavity and the rest of the kidney. My doctor wants me to have a surgery to close the cavity. He said that if I were to get another UTI it is possible for my to have another abcess. Is there any way to avoid this surgery? What would happen if I just waited to get another abcess?

hi...
antibiotic course and drainage are sufficient for treating abscess in the kidney.
surgery will be needed if you have stones, or anatomical abnormalities in kidney or ureter , or reflux of urine from bladder to ureter etc. which predisposes to abscess.
or surgery will be done in case of repeated infections and abscess formation in a poorly functioning kidney.
if you have any of the above things you need surgery otherwise you dont.
be careful and promptly take treatment and antibiotics whenever you get fever, burning on urination etc
do not try to postpone urination...you will not get uti s.
