Suggest Treatment For Burping, Black Colored Nails, Loss Of Weight And Voice With A History Of Pulmonary Fibrosis

hello, my husband (49 years of age) has advanced pulmonary fibrosis discovered 15 years after a spine injury. He is increasingly bothered by belching/burping, his snoring is very unnatural, and his nails, that have turned inside and round, are now also showing pitch black color just under the skin. This, despite oxygen support. He is also losing weight and also loses his voice from time to time, there s persistent dry cough too. Is there something, ANYTHING that I can do to help? please advise.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
But there is no cure for pulmonary fibrosis.
It is progressive disease, despite of therapy.
Few drugs are available in the market, but their effectiveness is still in question.
Following are the available drugs for fibrosis.
1. Perfinodone
2. N Acetly Cystiene (NAC)
3. Oral steroids.
Since he is loosing weight, voice and cough with cyanosis (pinkish blackening of nails), he is in terminal stage of illness.
So chances of survival are very less. And life expectancy is less than 6 months.
You can consult pulmonologist and discuss about starting all these drugs.
