Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In The Feet

I am diabetic Type 2. I have neuropathy. I can t sleep at night because of the burning and feeling of my feet being crushed from the side. I have had to put my feet in very cold water to get any sort of relief. An hour or so after taking my feet out of the water it s right bact to driving me paractically to tears. What can be done for this.

Hi,

Treatment of diabetic neuropathy is less than satisfactory.

Improved glycemic control should be aggressively pursued and will improve nerve conduction velocity, but symptoms of diabetic neuropathy may not necessarily improve.

Avoidance of neurotoxins (alcohol) and smoking, supplementation with vitamins for possible deficiencies (B1, B6 and B12, folate), and symptomatic treatment are the mainstays of therapy.

Chronic, painful diabetic neuropathy may respond to Amitriptyline and Gabapentin or Pregabalin, or opioids (Tramadol). All are prescription drugs. Referral to a pain management center may be necessary.

Also to note that the pain of acute diabetic neuropathy may resolve over time and medications may be discontinued as progressive neuronal damage from DM occurs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
