Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation In The Calf Muscle
Hi, I was woke up from a deep sleep with a very nasty burning in the lower part of the left calf muscle. It felt like a torch. It slowly moved up the calf to the top before it stopped burning. It felt like an eternity but was likely 15 minutes. The calf is now very sore. It didn t feel like a charlie horse nor pulling as in spasm. This happened on Fri night - Sat morn. No bruising and doesn t look swelled. Not sure if i should seek medical attention since it only feels sore. Never experienced anything like its intensity before.
yes, you should get it checked out if possible. Your symptoms may be due to many causes, but the one major one that needs to be rolled out is a DVT, which may present with similar symptoms. This may be a dangerous condition and must be treated promptly if determined. Although there are other more benign causes, it is always safe to rule out dangerous causes first. there is not enough information provided to determine the relative risk of your symptom being a DVT. DVT is more common if you have prolonged mobility, increased coagulable state such as certain genetic disorders or being on estrogen or smoking, and so forth.
