I have a question...my brother has had several major surgeries due to a near fatal accident...He contrapted MRSA and his blood work came back positive for meth..It took 18 months of MRSA turning into OsteoMyelitis and several slicings of the femur bone..He was given a complete knee replacement, femoral rod.....here withing the last year since Nov.2016 he fell into a pattern of several more surgeries...I suspect my brother has been smoking meth again because after this last surgery and still in staples he is back in the hospital with MRSA..he is not leaving the hospital for at least a month in attempt to save his leg one last motherfucking time..three out of six surgeries was due to him being intoxicated and busting verious parts in his leg which landed this last surgery in yet another knee replacement and the calf muscle being pulled over the knee because my brother literally has no more scar tissue..and now ten days later MRSA/OSTEOMYELITIS...DOES METHAMPHETIMES GO STRAIGHT TO AN OPEN DEEP WOUND SUCH AS THIS ENTIRELY SERIOUS SURGERY..PLEASE ANSWER ASAP..I DO not know for sure but I heavily suspect he caused his own infection and yes they recommended amputation and then decided to wait and see if they can get rid of the MRSA
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of burns on the abdomen, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Apply a placentrax gel twice daily on it. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
