Suggest Treatment For Bump In The Mouth

hi. i recently got my wisdom teeth removed about 2 1/2 weeks ago. for the most part, i'm healed up; however, i've noticed that i have a small bump on the inside of my mouth, about an inch away from the extraction site. the oral surgeon warned me about irrigating the bottoms to avoid infection from food debree, etc. should i be worried? it doesn't hurt, i just notice it's there because it hits the side of my tongue. is it even possible that it could be food?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a small hard bump near the wisdom tooth extraction site seems to be due to inflammation caused due to soft tissue injury and leading to accumulation of damaged tissue fibres, inflammatory cells and ruptured small blood vessels and also formation of a hematoma that gets encapsulated and becomes hard and firm..
It takes a long time to resolve and you need to do alternate warm and cold compresses over the area and it can be done by placing warm water in mouth for a minute and then cool water after some time..
You need to consult your treating dentist for confirmation of the cause and in case if it is not inflammatory lump other causes like bony tori can be ruled out..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
