Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Such type of spine pain and bruises must not be ignored. This could be due to pathology of
-
Spinous process or bony disease - Infection (
osteomyelitis), bony tumor like osteoma.
- Paraspinal
muscle disease - Myositis, Paraspinal abscess
- Pressure sore due to prolonged lying on bed
- Localised cellulitis or skin infection
All these conditions are painful and can cause localised redness at the involved area.
You must
consult spine surgeon for evaluation of red or bruised region. He will examine you for
- Localised tenderness
- Swelling
- Any deformity of spine
He might advise you few investigations like
- NCCT of spine
- MRI of spine
- Coagulation profile if suspecting
coagulopathy Final treatment can be given after confirmation. Generally, tutors require surgical resection. While absecess requires surgical drainage. The infection can be treated by intravenous antibiotics like ceftriaxone, amikacin.
Till final diagnosis, you can follow few tips
- Avoid lying supine. Lie on lateral side or prone.
- You can take painkiller like tablet diclofenac after proper prescription.
- You can apply painkiller gel like Diclofenac gel after proper prescription.
Hope it will help you. If any doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
