Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to hitting of the shin with the softball there has been traumatic injury to soft tissues leading of shin leading to inflammation of the soft tissues and accumulation of inflammatory fluid and causing swelling..
Secondly blue black discolouration is due to perforation of superficial blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood in the soft tissues causing bruising and
hematoma formation.
In case if you are able to put weight over the feet while walking then there is lesser probablity of bony
fracture while if there is
severe pain and inability to walk then there can be bony fracture and you need to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and an x ray can be diagnostic..
If there is bony fracture reduction and immobilization can help..
But if there is only
soft tissue injury then you can take
Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling..
Do cool compresses over the swelling..
Apply heparin gel as it will help in reducing bruising faster..
You can elevate your feet while lying down..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
