Suggest Treatment For Bruised Ear And Sore Cheek Caused After An Injury

I fell last evening on a sidewalk, striking by right side of my head (direct on cheek bone and ear). I feel a little queasy occasionally, but no headache. the ear is bruised and tender. the cheek bone is sore and a bit swollen. What is the best method of care for this type of injury?

Thank you for your question

I would suggest icing the area, it will help with the pain and swelling

I would suggest taking ibuprofen for the pain

If it causes severe pain opening your mouth or chewing then I would suggest you get seen by a doctor because I would be concerned about a fracture. If I was seeing you and had concern for this I would order a CT scan, fancy xray, making sure there is not a fracture

Hope this helps,
Dr Dupy
