Suggest Treatment For Broken Toe Along With Swelling

hi, I broke my small toe about 12 days ago. The doctor took X-rays to confirm he s diagnosis. I ve been icing regularly. Swelling & the purple color has pretty much gone away. However, I still can not put any weight on the toe. Very tender and painful to walk on. I m guessing that I have soft tissue damage as well. Should I get an MRI? Is there any suggestions to speed up healing? thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the injury. In my opinion, no MRI is needed. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen for the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses in the swelling area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
