Suggest Treatment For Brain Stroke
My friend is a 44 year old female who is hypertensive with high cholesterol. In February she suffered a stroke to the brain and todate has not regained consciousness they say she is in a vegetative state. She cries smiles does simple commands like put her arm out when dressing her. She is deemed severely brain damaged but Im a bit perturbed that she can do little things, Im i reading too much into this or is she responsive as some doctors say.

If she obeys simple commands technically it can't be called a vegetative state (or say that she has not regained consciousness). I doubt they you are interested about how to define it though, you care more for what can be expected.
Unfortunately the most improvements happen during the first 3-6 months, later only minimal if any improvement can be expected. It's not a question of treating it, that area of the brain is dead, if there was any degree of comeback it would've been thanks to the remaining brain compensating and assuming some of the lost functions. That doesn't seem to have been the case which is a real pity given her young age. I'm afraid her damages are very severe and there is no really course changing treatment.

Yes dear I have gone through your problem, be patient. As you say movement is still there, it's show that there is marked weakness... we need to start with repeated stimulation of muscle by tapping... vibration modality. Regular encouragement to do active exerciseis must. Still you can me more query to get answers in detailed.
