Suggest Treatment For Bowel Incontinence

I am helping a 49 yr old man with traumatic brain injury from a car accident and stroke. He is having problems with bowel incontinence. His neurologist is not helping primary care dr said increase fiber but my observation is the problem seems to be impacted more by his dementia. Not sure how to help him. I bought him depends but he won t wear them.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I do understand your pain and discomfort.
As per your history is concerned :-
1)First he needs a neurological clinical examination and a MRI scan to ruled out impact of trauma to brain and spinal cord
2)Do CBC and Fasting blood sugar& stool exam
3)Add B-12 injection in IM 4 times per week up to one month then once a month
His condition is more neurological in origin ,so an accurate analysis is required,
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you all the best.
Kindly rate the answer if you are convinced.
