Suggest Treatment For Blocked Ears With Sharp Pain In Right Ear

Hello my ears are slightly blocked but i can still hear but when i hiccup my right ear is causing a sharp pain and it's the same when I sleep on the ear. So can anyone help on how to treat it or shall I just go to my Doctors and see what they say.

Hi dear ,

As per your query you have blocked ears along with pain . The probable reason for blocked ear is ear infection , because there is pain . Sometime infection spread to ears through eustachian tube , when upper respiratory track infection is left untreated . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor will examine ear and throat physically and ears with otoscope and rule out causes like wax buildup and temporomandibular problem . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory drugs . For now kepp your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
