Suggest Treatment For Bipolar Disease
I have a 52 yr. old daughter that I am sure has bipolar She told me on observations on several ce that a doctor had diagnosed as being bipolar. Later when I questioned how she was being treated,she told me she never told me that. I am basing my opinion on observations of her behavior.She has a superior attitude and feels she should be the boss and in charge. She tells lies to get what she wants. she can t manage her finances and many other things. There are manic and depression times. I cannot convince her to get help. She says I am wrong. This is Dr Amit I can understand your concern very well The best treatment for bipolar disorder is a combination of medication and counseling. Doctors often treat the mania symptoms associated with bipolar disorder with one set of drugs, and use other drugs to treat depression.
Treatment of bipolar mania include antipsychotic drug, benzodiazepine, and/or lithium to quickly control hyperactivity, sleeplessness, hostility, and irritability.
Treatment of bipolar depression include lithium along with any anticonvulsant tablets all with the goal of modulating moods without igniting a manic episode along with counseling by your psychiatrist. After starting lithium it's level should be regularly monitor to avoid it's toxicity.
