Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I have probs with bile duct. Went to doctor last week and blood tests showed risen LFT so she sent me for an ultrasound. Organs were fine but bile duct showed it is 19mm rather than normal 10mm. So now sent for urgent specialist appointment. Can you tell me what may be the problem? Never constipated but stools sometimes chalky coloured.
A dilated bile duct can be from many things , from a benign stricture to pancreatic problems or even gallstones. It is a tricky area to investigate and tests include MRCP, ERCP, CT scans . It is definitely a specialized area and it is a good idea to see a specialist
