Suggest Treatment For Bed-wetting Issues In Children

Hello, I ve an 8 year old daughter that has bedwetting issues. The most concerning aspect of this however is that her urine has an extremely strong odor, enough to let us know she s wet the bed even with her door shut and we being down the hall. I cannot recall her urine ever being without this strong odor, it s not sweet, it s disgusting. She does not complain at all about pain or any difficulties urinating.

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. First of all you should address the bed wetting (enuresis) issue. Your child is still bed wetting habit because she is not properly trained. Now on every day, I suggest you to set alarm every two hours at night and force your daughter to the lavatory. You yourself take her to the lavatory. Continue this exercise for a week. Your child will learn to get up when it is necessary.

Most strong-smelling urine is produced when your child is mildly dehydrated. Exercise, a fever, hot weather, or a hot room can lead to slight dehydration. Children in cloth diapers can acquire a strong odor of ammonia if the bacteria in the stool have time to break down the urine. Increase your child's water intake during warm weather and fevers. Reduce your youngster's protein intake (remember that milk is largely a protein). Most of these odors are not caused by anything harmful. In case if the problem persists, consult a pediatrician.
