Suggest Treatment For Bacterial Vaginosis

I have symptoms of bacterial Vaginosis ( fishy odor , white coating on vaginal walls , sometimes itch and irritation , but the itch and irritation are rare . ) . I ve tested negative for all std s ( except I ve had HPV for 20 years . The HPV isn t causing outbreaks at the moment ). My vaginal cultures were all negative too . This has been going on for over a year . My natural vaginal odor is quite pleasant to me . Smells almost like nothing . Then this fishy odor comes along and I test negative for BV and other things . Last year I tested positive in November . I took flagyl 2-3 times since then and the odor came back the day after the last dose each time . Are there any infections that can hide in the body and cause fishy odor besides trich and BV ? BTW, My boyfriend was treated with flagyl each time I was . Could it be a BV biofilm ? Could I have a biofilm and still have a negative culture ? How can I get rid of biofilm ? Is there a DNase gel I could get ? Thanks so much !

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Bacterial vaginosis does not have a direct relation with your abnormal menstruation amenorrhoea (stopping of cycle) may be due to some hormonal cause for which you need to consult to the gynecologist.

Regarding bacterial vaginosis, you need to take medication. Usually, this kind of infection is mixed in nature and you need to take a combined antibiotic, antifungal and antiparasitic drug.

You can take Azithromycin, Secnidazole and Fluconazole after consulting to your treating physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
