Hi, Arthritis related knee pain is a very common symptoms which patient coming to me present with. Now the treatment of pain is related on two factors, whether you are able to go about your daily activities without much problem or not. If yes, then a short course of pain killers with physiotherapy is the preferred line of treatment. The physiotherapy is going to strengthen your thigh muscles and help in off loading the knee joint and reduce the progression of arthritis and therefore pain in the long run. Try to do more of physiotherapy and avoid dependance on pain killers. Cod liver oil wont really help you much at this stage. If your pain is so severe that you are not able to walk about the house or do even your basic toileting actvities also, then you might benefit from a total knee replacement.
