Suggest Treatment For Approx 5-7 Bowel Movements A Day

I have been having approx 5-7 bowel movements a day, a little loose, but not runny, tarry, bloody, etc. I have just started taking iron for anemia, zoloft for depression, as well as vitamin d, and calcium, all since about three mos. ago. I recently had a colonoscopy/endoscopy with only a small start of an ulcer and was told to start taking Prilosec. Should I be worried about the frequent, mostly urgent, bowel movements?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it can be related to a viral gastroenteritis. You can wait for 3 to 5 days to get better. In this time keep yourself hydrated and try to feed yourself well.

There is no need for further examinations. You can take Loperamide or Simethicone. Also take probiotics such enterogermina or youvita to establish the intestinal flora.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
