Suggest Treatment For Anxiety

I have a stethoscope and whenever I listen to my heart, it makes the normal "lub dub" sound, however, when I place it on the upper part if my chest, I hear something like a "ta lub dub." I have health anxiety and always worried about this. I've had an EKG and a holter monitor back in January of this year, all normal. Should I be worried? I feel fine otherwise. I'm 25 years old, female, do not smoke, no drinking, and I am fairly active. Thx.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Heart sounds can have different tones when listened at different areas of the chest. So, this is nothing to worry. From the description of your problems it definitely appears that you are suffering from a health anxiety disorder. This is what is causing you to have such unecessary worries and fears.

I would suggest that you consult a psychiatrist for further treatment of your health anxiety. Please refrain from doing self examinations and trying to make self-diagnosis as these would be only counter-productive.

Regards,
