Suggest Treatment For Anosmia And Metallic Taste In The Tongue
3 years ago I have a level 5 Thu and lost my senses of taste and smell. Had 3 bleeds. Recently I noticed and I have to guess since I I lost my senses a metallic taste and smell around specific things like chocolate peanut butter potatoes potato chips french fries home fries alfalfa and mist restaurants. My primary Dr just did a complex complete blood test work up testing everything she could think of and all came back in normal range. Any suggestions? Jill age 42 Delaware
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as nerve damage . There can be amny other reason which are responsible for anosmia and metallic taste in the tongue , they are nasal and sinus disease, upper respiratory infection and head trauma, frequent causes of taste disturbance include oral infections, oral appliances (dentures), dental procedures and Bell's palsy. There may be involvement of glossopharyngeal nerve and olfactory nerve . I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon and neurologist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan and MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory drugs and in some cases surgery is also one of the option.
