General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

White matter hyperintensities are a process of aging & may cause the brain cells to be inflamed or damaged. Smoking, DM, hypertension, high cholesterol, an injury may trigger it.

Age-related white matter changes are progressive & can get worse. You are suggested to get connected to a GP, who will help you maintain all your vitals to keep you healthy & strong.

Spreading of the lesions can be prevented by keeping DM, hypertension or any disease under control.

Maintain a low fat, low salt diet, healthy lifestyle with exercises & adequate sleep. Quit addictions if any.

Neglect may cause bipolar problems, clinical depression, mental disorders. You are suggested to take the help of a Counselor or Psychiatrist. You need care & medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
