Suggest Treatment For Anemia, Diabetes, And Kidney Disease

I am a 62 year old female with anemia...I have been receiving procrit injections from my onocologits for over a year now...I get a cbc every two weeks and if my hemoglobin is under 11... I receive a shot in the last year I have only not taken a shot twice...I just seen to be maintaing at around 10 to 10.4 most of the time...I am diabetic and have kdney disease...my A1c counts have been around 5.1-5.7 a nd two monthago mt A1c was 4.9...I am having some pain in my arms and shoulders and in my left calf and foot...I do chill easily...but I am wondering if I am on the right course of treatment or should I be looking at something else...before this treatment started I had 18 units of blood given to me over a 9mo. time and that took mt iron level over 800...this is when an onocoligist was broutgh in...my iron level has dropped over 500 points thus far...what should I be doing? Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Due to renal insufficiency, erythropoetin production is reduced. Hence, procrit is necessary.
2. Maintaining hemoglobin above 11 is necessary. Due to excessive transfusion, iron overload has occurred. Not to worry, as it is reducing.
3. Taking procrit when needed along with vit B12 therapy should be adequate. Diabetes is well in control and further renal damage will also be less. Continue treatment. Watch out for any blood loss always.
