Suggest Treatment For Amoebiasis In A 4 Year Old Baby

Hi, my 4 yr old grandchild was diagnosed with Amoebiasis about a month ago. After undergoing treatment and a gap of two weeks, I got her stool tested today. The result shows Leukocyte at 2-3/hpf. Is this ok, or should we have her stool cultured? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Leukocyte count of 2 to 3/hpf should be fine and does not indicate active infection. Hence there is no requirement for stool to be cultured at this stage.
If the complete course of treatment has been taken and there are no fresh symptoms, nothing else seems necessary.
Kindly continue to feed the child with normal healthy diet as usual.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
