Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. Montek-LC (Montelukast + Levocetirizine) can control symptoms of allergic cough-cold. So it is desirable that you take it as long as you have symptoms if you are not experiencing side effects.

Common side effects of montelukast+levocetirizine are sedation, drowsiness, stomach upset, etc. However, if you are not experiencing any of them, you can take it safely for years together.

2. For long term relief of allergy, I would suggest you to consult an Allergist-Immunologist who will suggest you allergy testing and allergen specific immunotherapy.

3. Were I treating you, I would suggest you allergy testing for common allergy causing substances such as house dust mites, molds, common pollens, insect proteins, pet dander (if you have pet).

4. Based on allergy testing, I would prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy which works on immune system to gradually improve allergy symptoms and reduces requirements of medicines over time.

5. In general, I would suggest you to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

6. Regular breathing exercises and a healthy diet will also help you by improving your immune system gradually.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
