Suggest Treatment For Adrenal Deficiency And Balance Issues

My mother is 80 and is in relatively bad health. She has adrenal deficiency, balance issues. For about 1-2 years, she has had a distended abdomen. I do remember that she was tested for some condition, but I sure don t remember. Her abdomen is so large that she never dresses at home, but rather a bathrobe. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Adrenal deficiency has a specific treatment that consists of replacing the steroids and aldosterone. So, she should follow the instructions of her doctor when it comes to treatment. Also, it can be a life-threatening condition if not treated properly.

As for the distended abdomen, this is not a symptom of adrenal deficiency. Very likely your mother has cirrhosis and ascites and the adrenal deficiency is secondary to cirrhosis.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
