I HAVE ADENOID CYSTIC CARCINOMA CANCER OF THE LUNGS...THIS COMING FEB 3-2015...I Have a meeting on the subject of CHEMOTHERAPY...AT THE PRINCE,MARG.HOSPITIAL..I I REALLY DON T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME ABOUT CHEMOTHERAPY...IF A DECSION IS MADE TO GET CHEMOTHERAPY ...WILL I HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE..?I DON T KNOW WHAT KIND OF ANSWERS THAT I SHOULD ASK ON THIS CHEMOTHERAPY...I M VERY NERVOUS AND SCARE...

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Adenoid cystic carcinoma of lung is rare malignancy. It is affecting secretory mucus gland. It is having good prognosis.
And early chemotherapy should be started to achieve good regression.
It is highly chemo sensitive tumour.
So go for chemotherapy.
You may need 4-5 cycles of chemotherapy.
And further need of chemotherapy is based on CT thorax report at that time.
Usual five year survival rate is good with this kind of cancer. It is approximately 50-60 %. And life expectancy after chemotherapy is 5-6 years.
About chemotherapy, you should ask your doctor about side effects, dose, frequency of dose, concurrent radiotherapy is needed or not etc.
