Suggest Treatment For Acute Pain In The Cheeks After A Dental Procedure

I just recently had my upper wisdom teeth removed and it has been a week since the operation. About three days ago my left cheek began to have acute pain whenever I yawned or opened my mouth wide. If this is a pulled muscle from the procedure how would I be able to heal from it?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in cheek on opening the mouth wide like on yawning can be due to muscle spasm that can occur after a dental procedure while can also be due to injury to the jaw joint that can occur due to keeping the mouth widely open for long duration during dental procedure..

Do not worry as it will resolve gradually as the healing will take place..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Panoromic x ray can be done to check for conditions like Jaw Joint dislocation that can cause severe pain..

As of now take a combination of anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxants like Chlorzoxasone..
Take a soft diet and also avoid opening the mouth too wide..
Gently massage the side of face with gentle round movements of finger tips..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
