Suggest Treatment For Aches In Legs During Periods

Why do my legs ache whenever i have my period? It is not an intense pain, but it can get uncomfortable and hard for me to sleep at night. I do not get abdominal cramps. It just my a dull but persistent pain in my legs every month. Was just wondering what makes this happen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Many of the times, low level of hemoglobin is responsible for leg cramps during menses as there is blood loss and body is lacking iron element.

Rather than taking mere pain killers, I would recommend

- consume a high iron diet as spinach and another green leafy veg, mung jaggery, pulses, legumes
- intake of multivitamin, minerals, antioxidants and iron preparation in form of capsule, tablet or syrup as per your choice
- follow up after 3 months or early as per the need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
