Suggest Treatment For Accidental Spilling Of Breast Milk Into The Eyes Of An Infant
Hi Doctor Today while feeding my daughter who is one and a half months old, she spilled the breast milk from her mouth which a little accidentally went into her eyes though she immediately closed her eyes and I first cleaned with fresh wipes and then thoroughly with plain water. I consulted my doctor and he said if there is no redness,no need to worry. There is however no redness n she is fine and playing. Is there any need to worry? Does breast milk cause any problem if gone in eyes. Regards
I understand your concern. Accidental spillage of breast milk on eyes of an infant might cause conjunctival inflammation of eyes if not attended immediately. Since you have washed thoroughly with water and wipes, it might not have had time for the inflammation to set in. Since the eyes are clear with no redness, it indicates that the eyes are free from inflammatory reaction. Hence, you need not be worried about it as it would not cause any type of adverse effects on the eyes.
Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further. All the best.
