Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain

My daughter (4yrs) complains of tummy ache atleast every alternate day. So the doctor asked us to do a abdomen scan, urine and stool routine test for her. Scan report is fine, but urine and stool reports show presence of pus cells . Is it normal?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Does she have any other symptoms like frequent micturition, painful micturition, vomiting or loos stools? Presence of pus cells can suggest gastroenteritis or urine infection, but this depends on other associated symptoms present. Confirmation needs culture test. An occasional pain is very common around umbilical area in children- called functional abdominal pain- and need not worry. Your doctor will discuss in details

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
