Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Frequent Bowel Movements

Hi. I am a 37 y/o female, who has had three children. I do suffer mild ibs, and had my gallbladder removed about eight years ago. I do not tolerate fast food, greasy food well. I drink moderately. In the past, I have occassionally suffered the gripe , mild stomach aching, sweating, followed by an immediate bowl movement. All of this said, the past few weeks I have experienced a pain that comes and goes in my upper right abdomen that lasts a brief while. This typically happens shortly after I eat, more often in the afternoon than evening. During this time I have several bowel movements, I may sweat, and feel heated. Also, in the last few days, I have noticed an almost skunky odor to my stool. Although I am not on a strict diet for ibs, I have not eaten any fast food. As far as I know, I am otherwise healthy, albeit a bit overweight; and, I do actively participate with my children.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about a 37 years old female who has three children, have mild IBS, cholecystectomy 8 years ago, can not tolerate fast and greasy foods. Occasionally suffer from gripe, stomach ache, sweating followed by immediate bowel movements. Now pain in right upper abdomen after food - followed by bowel movements, bad odor in stool ...
The cause for the present complaint looks to be due to the following:
Gastritis or Duodenitis as you have pain after food in the right upper quadrant.
Entero-colitis as suggested by smelly loose stool after food.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Send the stool, blood and urine for tests,
Get started on proper Antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotic and supportive therapy.
If there is no relief then you need an upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, CT scan of the abdomen.
This can be taken as IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome only if all the investigations are necessarily normal and then the major cause is the anxiety and/or stress .
I find this answer helpful
