Suggest Treatment For A Swollen Zit Around The Lip

Last night i noticed a peanut size zit(abcess) on my outer lip area and it was sensitive.. I looked at it closelyand it seemed to be ready to pop.. I squeezed it a bit and most of it came out/clear liquid no blood or anything.. before i could drain it all it was really irritated from me bothering it. So i let it be.. Woke up and it was a little worse in size.. swollen. I tried squeezing it out but i think the hole closed more, or thatit got thicker so only a little bit came out and i felt it burst uner skin, felt relief right after.. i wanted drain the rest out, i was really stupid and kept messing with it for about 20 minutes.. AND NOW ITS SUPER SWOLLEN!!! like i am embarrassed and ive been crying cuz i dont want to goto the ER. (i dont have insurance for another 2 months)... ive taken a bath twice in warm water trying to help it get a head, it is pink and i dont see a head now.. even if i didnt have a small abcess to begin with, would my labia still get this swollen??! i know its a sensitive area and i really squeezed and tugged on it..

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen zit around the lip which could be due minor traumatization of blood vessels which keeps on forming small spots on lips due to under skin blood accumulation. It could be due to angioedema and severe allergic reaction to allergen. It is a type of urticaria. It could be due to dehydration and stress as well. I would suggest you to apply petroleum jelly on it. The symptoms can also occur due to folicullitis .You should drink plenty of water. You should take combination of levocetrizine along with Ibuprofen if it is painful . Avoid exposure to sunlight. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Take folic acid with vitamin b complex supplement. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take supplements rich in vitamin B12. You should give cold compresses to lips 2-3 times a day, take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
