Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Chin

Often times when I yawn, a small painful lump potrudes from under my chin and forces my jaw to stay open wide in a cramp that lasts for several seconds to a minute. I usually press my thumb up into the lump in my lower palate and it slowly loosens. Is this a sign of anything serious?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump on the chin, the most probable reason for the lump under the chin is sialolithiasis . It occur due to collection of mucus in connective tissue from salivary gland duct of which get blocked by small calculi. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis and to rule out causes like infection or lymph node swelling. doctor may order X-ray, ultrasound or sialography.
