My 13 year old daughter woke up crying this morning and said she couldn t sit down because her butt hurt. When i looked, there was a lump almost between her butt cheek around the area appeared swollen. When I tried touching it slightly, she cried more and said it hurts badly. What should we do and what do you think this is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This is a boil. Your child needs antibiotic as an amoxicillin-clavulanate and anti-inflammatory drug as Diclofenac.

Don't squeeze or press the boil. You should take medicines for 5 days, if there is no relief in 3 days, then the boil has to be excised but a surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
