Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump On The Throat
Out of the blue, while eating, I noticed a painful blister or bump on top back part of my throat. It hurts to swallow so I stopped eating and put Oragel on it. I can feel it with my tongue and it s shaped like a grain of rice. My daughter works at a daycare and was exposed to strep the other day. She s currently I ll with a head and chest cold, but I feel fine. What could have cause this painful blister thing and do I need to see a doctor?
Noted your history of a painful blister on the back of throat, daughter working at daycare looks to have viral infection. Your history is suggestive of a condition called granular pharyngitis wherein there is an acute infection. Central part of such a bump can have a focus of infection hence the pain while swallowing. I would advise you the following: Betadine gargles as directed on the bottle. Take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like IBuprofen as per your weight. Antibiotic only if necessary. An actual examination by a Doctor, preferably an ENT Surgeon can help you the best with proper diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
