Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bump On The Foot

Dropped a heavy piece of wood on the top of my foot and immediately a golf all size bump appeared. I iced right away and the bump lessened but wondered if this is an indication of anything worse? Doesn t hurt all that much actually and I can walk on it no problem.

Dermatologist 's  Response
The possible diagnosis of the condition based on the description of the lesions is a post traumatic hematoma. It occurs because of extravasation of blood from the capillaries. If you do not have any difficulty in walking then there is very little chance it could be a fracture or a ligament damage. However you can consult your doctor to rule it out and he might perform an X ray of the local part .If you are experiencing pain then Non steroidal anti inflammatory drug like diclofenac may also be used. Regards
