Suggest Treatment For A Painful Bruise On The Wrist

Dear Doctor, At about 9 o clock last night, i noticed a bruise had suddenly appeared on the inside of my left wrist; right on top of one of the arteries. I don t remember hitting anything, and it is more purple and bigger, and has my-normal-skin-colored dot in the center of it. Today, my left hand seems to be cold, and it keeps cramping up. My grandmother, my mom, and her sisters all had problems with low blood pressure. (if that helps anything) Thank you, Jenny

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have only one bruise there is nothing to worry about. If you start to get new bruises in other areas of the body or if you have bleeding gums, or bleeding from other areas of the body (nosebleeds, bleeding with urine or stools, etc) then a visit with the doctor is needed. The low blood pressure in the family is not related to bruises, you should not worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
