Suggest Treatment For A Bad Cough

I had active pulmonary TB 30yrs ago treated for 1 year with medication.I am a nurse and thought to have caught it of a patient. For acouple of years after was always getting chest infections and pneumonia. However returned to good health and didnt suffer any further problems.Foo past two weeks have had a really bad cough, feel exhausted all the time, and started to get night sweats.Have finished a course of antibiotics, which seemed to help initially but still coughing up loads of green gunge.Should I be concerned?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

How old are you? Where you are working at present as a paramedics? Do you have any other medical problems? Do you have tobacco habits? Did you have recent exposure with a patient with acute respiratory infection or active tuberculous patient? All needs to be answered.

Advice: You need to be investigated thoroughly for physical examination by pulmonologist, blood counts, sputum examination for microscopy, X-ray chest.
General measures: Do steam inhalation with some medicinal preparation meant for the same. A fresh course of good antibiotics along with mucolytics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Himanshu Dhanak, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
